About

…and in an instant, my life changed forever.

That fateful day way back when, just giving ‘that wakeboard thing’ a go, I fell in love. I spent all my money on it, made excuses for it, left my friends for it, travelled all around the world chasing it. I even bought a flat just to be close to it! It broke me a few times, but no matter what, I just can’t let go. We’re just meant to be.

A late comer to wakeboarding, I was instantly hooked, obsessed and consumed by the greatest sport there is despite not getting any younger. However, within three years of that first day and after a broken leg, I was the first UK female wakeboarder to be recognised as National Masters Champion and one of the first to compete at European level in the category. I was never going to curb my enthiusiasm; I was a child again with all the curiosity, excitement exhileration and drive for new discoveries.

If I could find a new lease of life with passion and belief, then others could too. And so Wide-A-Wake.com was born to gather a community of girls and women out there to share this with. A firm believer that age is no excuse to follow your passion and that wakeboarding is for EVERYONE at every age, I regularly coach at boat and cable parks fuelling the buzz that’s made such a difference to my life,  I’d go so far as to say it’s made me younger. I’m fitter and healthier than I’ve ever been. If ‘all you need is love’ then my life without wakeboarding would be pretty lonely. SK x

I’ve got a lot to thank Wakeboarding for.

  1. Like to see people following their dreams and take no for an answer! And your right…age means nothing. I just started running 2 yrs ago and am working on my 2nd 1/2 marathon (Boston Run To Remember 1/2) on May 25th, ’14. This is just after only 3 1/2 months since my hip surgery (FAI/Labrum tear). Sore but I will finish. Even if I have to crawl to the finish line. Keep up the good work!
