Quite some time ago, I teamed up with LDB to offer up a wakeboarding session to be auctioned for the charity Sport Against Trafficking. This weekend, we gave winning bidder Matt Carswell and his mate Chris, their water time. This particular fundraiser was just for Sky Sports News staff to raise initial funds for a trans Atlantic Row For Freedom and quite a lot has happened since then for the charity Sport Against Trafficking.
Colleague Julia Immonen, founder of the charity that uses sport to raise awareness and funds to combat human trafficking, has inspired thousands with her herculean efforts for her cause. Since the auction, she has broken 2 world records rowing the Atlantic as part of an all female crew with their Row For Freedom challenge and has since appeared on national and international TV, had numerous publication and press coverage globally about her Atlantic crossing, inspiring women the world over. This weekend Matt and Chris helped us to continue spreading the good work of Julia and Sport Against Trafficking.
It was a really fun afternoon and the boys progressed very quickly, with mutterings of Matt keen to return for more. I smell a staff day out coming soon!
